When an NDIS participant turns 65, they must choose between continuing with their current NDIS plan (if eligible) or transitioning to the aged care system. This decision has long-term implications for funding, service access, and support quality.

For providers, helping clients through this transition involves more than administrative support. It requires educating clients about their rights, planning service continuity, and managing any internal operational changes that may arise.

This is especially important for people with lifelong disability who may not benefit from aged care supports in the same way. Without the right planning, they risk receiving reduced or less appropriate care.
